Your Role:


We are currently looking for  a patent practitioner to join our legal team working with highly skilled engineers on complex topics.     The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated excellence in understanding technology and business, working with engineers, preparing and prosecuting patent applications and developing filing strategies. 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Work closely with Metawave team members to identify and define innovations.  

  • Work with chief legal officer to build IP portfolios

  • Counsel technologists on protection of intellectual property

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications for Metawave core technologies

  • Work with foreign counsel to protect innovations worldwide

  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams to develop patent strategies for automotive radar and cellular communications

  • Perform other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of goals

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with technologists

  • Outstanding writing and analytical skills, and top academic credentials are essential.

  • At least 5 years drafting and prosecuting high-quality, complex patent applications for major technology companies.

  • Ability to perform prior art searches and freedom to operate analyses.

  • Candidate must be a confident self-starter, capable of working both on her/his own as well as part of teams.


Education

  • M.S./Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Physics

  • U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with millimeter wave RF systems, including radar and cellular.

  • At least 3 years of working experience in industry

  • For attorneys, at least one state bar registration.

  • A broad background in many different aspects of IP is helpful, including re-examinations, continuations, and appealss

  • Experience in the Automotive Industry

  • Experience in Mobile and Fixed Wireless Network Industry

  • Previous experience with startups transitioning to growth stage and beyond
