Job Overview:
Metawave Corporation is seeking a qualified detail-oriented, highly motivated Patent Paralegal/IP Specialist who is eager to gain hands-on, practical legal experience working for an innovative firm. You’ll get the opportunity to handle complex intellectual property issues as well as assist and interact closely with talented attorneys handling patent and trademark portfolio management.

Qualifications:
Five + years of substantive IP prosecution experience at a law firm or corporation including but not limited to U.S. and/or Foreign Filing policies and procedures, using and maintaining an IP docketing system, filing patent related documents throughout the stage of a patent application. Trademark experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:

Mange entry of deadlines into IP docketing database; Prepare and monitor daily, weekly & monthly docket reports to ensure all required communications are reviewed to meet statutory deadlines;

Review incoming correspondence from USPTO,WIPO, RO/US and/or foreign associates regarding current status of patent applications – and ensure accuracy of information, including Official Filing Receipts, Publications, Notifications, Assignments, Acceptances, and Letters Patent documents;

File new US/PCT patent applications, national stage applications and directly filed foreign applications;

Prepare and file formal documents, including Oath/Declarations, Powers of Attorney, Patent Assignments, and other formal documents as required by the USPTO/RO-US/PCT;

Prepare and file IDSs; documents in response to Missing Parts, Invitations to Correct Defects, Payment of additional fees, and respond to other documents received from the USPTO/WIPO or the U.S. Receiving Office (RO/US);

Assist Legal and Business Affairs Program Manager with other projects.

Strong knowledge of docketing procedures and hands-on experience in one or more docketing tools

Flexibility to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment; ability to handle multiple projects under limited supervision.

Bachelor degree; Paralegal Certificate
